Prime Minister Vladimir Putin has endorsed technical security standards for high speed railway trains.Putin has signed a resolution adopted by the Russian government that is aimed at protection of life and security of citizens, safety of their property, environmental protection and energy effectiveness. An almost 37-page document envisages that security facilities on board a train capable to move at a speed of more than 200 kilometres per hour, apart from other tasks, should ensure periodical tests of an engine driver's condition and ensure automatic train stoppage if an engine driver loses control of the train.
The document envisages that a high speed train should be provided with a satellite navigation system GLONASS or any other system capable to receive the US GPS signal. Glass constructions of such trains should ensure safety of personnel and passengers should a train receive a sudden push during stopover or on the way. The brake system should be capable to ensure integrity of the train if a railway track is impaired or in the event of unauthorized disconnection of train cars.
High speed trains, represented by the Sapsan in Russia for the time being, will be provided with air conditioning systems, drinking and washing water supply and ecologically clean toilet complexes. The high speed trains will be provided with special compartments for disabled passengers and passengers travelling with children.
The construction of railroads for high speed trains should rule out a possibility of their being crossed either by motorways or public transport routes on the same level. In future, high speed railways will be fenced off throughout the entire route to prevent unauthorised access of people and animals.
