Automobile plant at Vsevolozhsk put employees on company vacations for three weeks, company will be out of operation till August 2. Employees of St. Petersburg Nissan plant will also have two-week vacations till the end of the month, and in August as expected employees of GM and Toyota will have a rest for two weeks. During vacation period automakers will continue trainings for the staff recruited to increase production planned for September.
In spite of car sales growth in Russia carmakers as in previous years have company vacations. Vsevolozhsk Ford plant announced that operations will be closed down for the vacation period from 12 July will 2 August. On the last week of July and first week of August St. Petersburg Nissan plant will also be out of operation because of company vacations, informed director of the enterprise Dmitry Mikhailov. During first two weeks of August GM plant will also have vacations, said company representative Yulia Boicharova. Till the end of the summer, as it was last year, employees of Toyota plant could have two week vacations. But company doesn’t comment this information.
All plants emphasize that suspension of production is planned. Company vacations for example allow companies to control vacations of employees avoiding mass holidays during plant operation. Dictated vacations in their turn not once caused discontent at trade unions. That is why executives of foreign car manufacturing companies have to make concessions and arrange company vacations as a rule not longer than two weeks and two more vacation weeks are left to the discretion of every employee.
Along with that last year car plants of St. Petersburg and the region were to have company vacations because of the need in slow production due to sharp slump in demand. Toyota plant for example was closed for three times, GM was out of operation for the whole summer, and Ford besides vacations also decreased the number of working days and shifts. Current vacations on contrary will be a preparation period for the company for significant increase in production output. To this effect Ford plant is going to recruit additionally and train 230 employees. Nissan plant has additionally recruited and trains 750 people, GM plant – 700 employees. As a result both companies have doubled number of shifts, and newly recruited personnel will allow Ford plant to recover partially the third shift operation.
