Russia’s Transneft starts filling China pipeline link with oil

Russia’s oil pipeline monopoly Transneft on August 29 held an official ceremony to start filling a pipeline link with China with oil, ITAR-TASS reported.The ceremony was attended by Prime Minister Vladimir Putin.
Putin said Russian oil supplies to China were expected to start later this year.
Transneft has completed the construction of a pipeline between the Russian town of Skovorodino in the Amur Region and the Chinese border. China has yet to complete a pipeline link between the city of Daqing and the border.
The planned annual capacity of the pipeline link amounts to 15 million tonnes of oil.
Meanwhile, Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin said that Russia and China were also expected to cooperate in the refining and production of Russian oil, and the supplying and processing of Russian coal, as well as to set up joint ventures to produce power equipment and develop alternative energy sources.
