State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine (Ukrzaliznytsya) has approved this year’s tariff conditions for bringing Venezuelian oil through the port of Odessa with the destination to Belarus (Mozyr). The Ukrzaliznitsya Tariff Policy Commission has decided to prolong until the end of 2011 the special pilot project tariffs for tanker shipments of oil, which are $ 25.14 per ton ($ 0.27 for 10 ton/km).
Shipping route is from the station of Odessa-Peresyp via a border crossing Berezhest (Ukraine – Belarus border) to the points of destination on Belarusian side.
It is good to remember that the rates had been determined by railway administrations of Ukraine and Belarus. The decision to search for the price consensus and to make the project mutually beneficial was supported at the level of heads of governments of both countries.
"The Belarusian side would like transport rates to be as low as possible, and, on the contrary, we would like that our railways work with profit. We share the opinion with our Prime Minister that our First Deputy Prime Ministers engaged in these issues - Vladimir Semashko (the Belarusian side) and Andrei Klyuyev (our side) will fully examine this issue and find a compromise," Prime Minister Mykola Azarov commented on the tariff issue .
