Ukrzaliznytsya modernizes wagons for transportation of ores

The State Administration of Railway Transport of Ukraine (Ukrzaliznytsya) has initiated upgrading of gondola wagons for carrying ore cargoes.

The Southern Railway will fulfill the task to modernize gondola cars in order to exclude risks of damaging wagons when they are unloaded. Ukrzaliznytsya emphasized that the usual practice of unloading wagons in ports by the grab method brings the increased deterioration of gondola cars, the most demanded type of wagons.

The Transport Ministry of Ukraine informs, that according to the new project, gondola wagons will be equipped with new modernized hatches for unloading ore. Izmail Sea Commercial Port (Ukrainian Danube) is to test the new devices. At the end of May, the port receives three cargo trains with modernized gondola wagons.

"Preliminary results with new freight wagons were positive," stated the Transport Ministry of Ukraine.
