Ukraine integration in Customs Union to help cope with economic problems

Ukraine’s integration into the Customs Union of Russia, Belarus and Kazakhstan will help it to solve many economic problems, Ukrainian Foreign Minister Konstantin Grishchenko said on Wednesday.

“Ukraine is geared towards reasonable capital inflow, Russian businesses here are in more comfortable conditions than other foreign partners, although we have certain problems. Interregional cooperation is a top priority for us, it has a vast potential,” Grishchenko said during his meeting with speaker of the Russian State Duma lower parliament house Boris Gryzlov.

According to Grishchenko, one of the basic tasks of the Ukrainian leadership is to elaborate a new version of the law on foreign and domestic policy principles to guarantee the country’s security as an uncommitted nation. In this context he mentioned a large-scale programme “to implement the idea of the vigour of the two nations, which will be able to create enormous projects.”

The Russian speaker expressed the hope that now that Victor Yanukovich won Ukraine’s presidential race relations between the two countries would be restored up to the top level. “Relations between our countries will be restored. It is very important to enliven contacts in all directions,” he said.
