Government to subsidize air travel to Russia's Far East

Eleven airlines will be subsidized this year to carry passengers from the European part of the country to the Far East and back, being entitled to preference tariffs, a source in Rosaviatsia federal air transport agency told Tass.

The government allocated about 2.5 bln roubles for that purpose.

Rosaviatzia concluded contracts to subsidize such flights with Aeroflot-Russian Airlines, Transaero, S7,(Siberia), the state transport company Russia, Yakutia Airlines, Vladivostok Avia, Ural Airlines, Donavia, Taimyr Air Company, Mirninsk Aviation Enterprise, Novosibirsk Avia Enterprise. The contracts encompass the time period from April 1 to October 31, 2010.
