Romania to close five checkpoints on border with Ukraine

Romania is to close five checkpoints on the border with Ukraine from March 11, the Chernivtsi customs detachment has told Interfax-Ukraine.The Ukrainian customs department said it had received an official report from its Romanian counterparts that their government had decided to temporarily close the Diakivtsi, Bila Krynytsia, Krasnoilsk, Ruska and Shepot checkpoints. The reason for the closure is the completion of work on domestic infrastructure of the checkpoints and their equipment in line with Schengen standards.
Ukrainian custom officers cannot say for how long the checkpoint would be closed. The State Customs Service said that car and railway checkpoints continue functioning on the border with Romania.
