Checkpoint on Russia-Georgia border reopens

The only checkpoint on the Russian-Georgian border, Verkhny Lars, reopens today after a 3-year break.

Russia closed down the checkpoint for reconstruction in 2006. The repairs ended last May. By September Georgia had completed modernization of its Kazbegi checkpoint.

The flow charts of Russia’s boarder crossing points at the ports of Sovetskaya Gavan and Vanino have been approved at a meeting of the Coordinating Council of the ports' checkpoints, the press service of Federal Rosgranstroy reported.
