Checkpoint on Russia-Georgia border reopens

The only checkpoint on the Russian-Georgian border, Verkhny Lars, reopens today after a 3-year break.

Russia closed down the checkpoint for reconstruction in 2006. The repairs ended last May. By September Georgia had completed modernization of its Kazbegi checkpoint.
