Russia to Export Over 20 Mln Tonnes Of Grains In 2009/10 MY

Russia needs to aspire to supply over 20 mln tonnes of grains on the export market in 2009/10 MY, declared Viktor Zubkov, the First Vice-Premier of the Russian Federation.According to him, the national operator United Grain Company should cooperate with Russian exporters in order to provide the efficient joint work. The government should also define own strategy concerning exports of the large-scale volumes of grain carry-over stocks.
According to the Federal Customs Service, as of the beginning of the grain year (July 1), in 2008/09 MY grain carry-over stocks in the Russian Federation totaled 13.3 mln tonnes, in 2009/10 grain year - 23.7 mln tonnes, at the beginning of 2010/11 grain year - the volume is forecasted at the level of 21.1 mln tonnes. In 2008/09 MY, Russia exported 23.5 mln tonnes of grains.
According to V.Zubkov, the Russian Federation will increase own annual grain export volumes to the level of 23-25 mln tonnes with the prospect to increase the index to 30 mln tonnes of stable supplying.
As a reminder, according to the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation, in 2009, grain production in all varieties of agricultural economies in Russia totaled 97 mln tonnes in clean weight, including nearly 62 mln tonnes of wheat.
