Siemens to install turnkey electrical engineering equipment for Turkmenbashi Airport in Turkmenistan

The scope of supplies and services will include the power supply and power distribution, safety systems, IT and communication systems, as well as airport-specific equipment such as baggage handling systems.The value of the contract amounts to 27 million euros.
The aim is to in future enable the airport to handle international air traffic in addition to domestic air traffic to the capital Ashgabat which is some 500 kilometers away.
Siemens will be installing the turnkey electrical systems for the passenger and cargo terminal, the separate president terminal, the secondary and operational buildings as well as for the apron and the new 3,500 meter long runway. This equipment will include the medium and low-voltage distribution, lighting, safety systems such as CCTV, and fire alarm systems. The scope of supply will also cover the complete IT and communication systems including the telephone system, airport-specific software solutions, the loudspeaker system, baggage handling equipment, x-ray units, passenger information systems, the floodlighting system for the apron, and the airfield lighting.
Siemens is responsible for the entire processing of the project − from engineering and supplies through installation and commissioning to airport employee training. The main reason why Siemens was awarded the contract was that Siemens was in a position to offer an integrated overall solution for the complete electrical and airport-specific equipment.
