Maersk Line Expected to Post Weaker Results

10.10.2008 (17:15)

Stock market analysts expect Danish container shipping company Maersk Line to post a considerably weaker earnings in 2009 than earlier estimated as a result of the global finance crisis.

Carnegie for example has reduced its estimates for Maersk Line because the freight rates on the company's main route between Europe and Asia have collapsed. Henrik Lund of Carnegie expects Maersk Line to lose almost DKr 900mn (US$ 162.87mn EUR 120.6mn) in 2009. He expects the company to post a profit of around DKr 3bn in 2010, Logistics Finland reports.
