AirBaltic in September 2008 Carried 33% more Passengers than Last Year

Latvian national airline airBaltic carried 274,791 passengers in September 2008, or 33% more than in September 2007, as LETA learned from airBaltic Vice-President Corporate Communications Janis Vanags.

During the first nine months of 2008, airBaltic transported a total of 1,971,617 passengers, or 32% more than during the same period in 2007, when the total number of passengers was 1,493,934, The Baltic Course reports.

In September, airBaltic operated 4,533 flights, or 33% more than the 3,412 flights of September last year. Between January and the end of September, the airline increased its number of flights by 33% over the same period in 2007 – up to 35,813 flights in all.

Cabin factor in September 2008 was at a level of 68%. During the nine months of 2008 airline’s cabin factor was at a level of 63%.

The 15-minute flight punctuality indicator for airBaltic was at a level of 78.7% in September 2008. This means that more than 78 of every 100 airBaltic flights in September departed at the planned time or with a delay of no more than 15 minutes.

As LETA reported, the turnover of airBaltic in 2007 amounted to LVL 159.43 million, which is a 38% increase, compared with the results of 2006. The passenger turnover grew by 41% and reached the total number of two million. However, the company's profit decreased threefold, dropping to LVL 1.24 million, compared to LVL 4.06 million in 2006.
