Deutsche Bahn IPO Won't Go ahead on October 27

09.10.2008 (16:57)

An initial public offering of shares in German rail operator Deutsche Bahn will not go ahead as planned on Oct. 27, Reuters reports referring to a source close to the company's board.

A different source close to Deutsche Bahn said the planned partial privatisation of the rail operator would happen when the market situation permitted. A decision would be officially announced on Thursday afternoon.

Germany's finance ministry and Deutsche Bahn had no immediate comment.

Doubts about the timing of the part-privatisation of the rail operator have grown amid sharp falls in share markets around the world.
