Estonia: Rail Operator to Improve Container Carriage

The Estonian state-owned rail operator, Eesti Raudtee (ER) reported a stock of 512 rail carriers, designated for the carriage of containers.ER, in an effort to comply with the increased demand for container carriage in view of the port operator, Port of Tallinn, planning to raise container handling volume, will increase its rail carrier stock. The company says the stock should be increased by 5-6-fold from the present. Apart from acquisition of carriers, the company outsources carriers from private owners, such as FESCO group. ER is also cooperating with the Russian Transkonteiner in container forwarding from Estonia to Russia, Logistics Finland reports.
