Stevedores of Leningrad Region up Cargo Handling by 1.6% in January-September 08

In January-September, 2008, stevedoring organizations of the Leningrad region operating in harbor waters of the Gulf of Finland handled 66 million tonnes of cargo (+1.6%, year-on-year), press center of the regional government informs.Export accounted for 96.1% of total volume handled in the ports, PortNews reports referring to the press center of the regional government.
The port of Ust-Luga increased its throughput by 3.3% to 4.5 million tonnes including 3.9 million tonnes of coal, 406,300 tonnes of timber. Automobile-railway feryy complex Ust-Luga-Baltijsk – German ports handled 227,700 tonnes of general cargo.
The port of Vysotsk handled 11 million tonnes of cargo (+4.2%, year-on-year). RPK-Vysotsk LUKOIL-II handled 9 million tonnes of oil products, coal terminal of Port Vysotsk LLC handled 2 million tonnes of cargo.
Port Vyborg increased cargo handling by 24.4%, to 816,200 tonnes with chemical cargo accounting for 43.9% of total turnover, coal – 31.5%.
Port Primorsk exported 49.1 million tonnes of oil. The number of calls totaled 488. The first launch complex of Sever project (long-distance pipeline Kstovo-Yaroslavl-Kirishi-Primorsk and sea terminal for light oil products) operating from May of the current year exported 0.44 million tonnes of oil products.
