Rosneft to Contribute to Offshore Exploration

02.10.2008 (11:56)

Rosneft has assessed its need for vessels and platforms for offshore development.

According to the Russian oil company's hydrocarbon offshore exploration program until 2030, it will need 193 units of equipment for geological surveys and oil production, as well as transportation. Experts note that all drilling rigs which are currently on the market, and even those still under construction, have been contracted for the next two to five years.

In line with its program, Rosneft is seeking licenses for 31 offshore sites in northern, Far Eastern, and southern seas. However, spokesman for Rosneft Nikolai Manvelov declined to comment on the company's plans regarding construction and equipment leasing for offshore development, RBC reports.
