Train Traffic Resumed on Transsib Line after Cargo Train Derailment

Train traffic was completely resumed on Friday on the mountain section of the Trans-Siberian main line near Irkutsk, where 12 cars carrying metal derailed on Thursday.

The traffic was resumed at 05:30 Moscow time this Friday, the East Siberian regional branch of the Russian Railways company said according to Itar-Tass.

The accident took place between the stations of Glubokaya and Podkamennaya. Two cars went over the embankment, two overturned, and the rest remained on the roadbed. Three supports and 150 metres of the railroad were damaged. As a result, the traffic was stopped at the section.

Repair trains from the nearest major stations of Irkutsk and Slyudyanka participated in the repair work. There has been no information so far about the accident causes.
