Tallink Accepts Conciliator's Pay Proposal

Estonian shipping group Tallink has accepted the public conciliator's compromise proposal for, under which Tallink will raise the monthly wages of seamen and servicing personnel on its Estonian-flagged ships: 25% as of Sep.1, 2008, 9% in 2009, and 6% in 2010, accompanied with an extra pay for a long-time service.The system of remuneration for the length of employment earmarks an extra 5% for employees, with a work record of over four years, and a 10% extra starting from the ninth year of employment at Tallink. As of September 2008, Tallink raised the base wage of Tallink's lowest-paid employees on Estonian-flagged ships by 15% or to above EKr 9,000 (US$ 847.64 EUR 575.2), Logistics Finland reports.
