Tallink Carried 7Mln Passengers in FY 2007/08

Estonian shipping company Tallink carried 7.1mn passengers in the FY 2007/2008, ending on August 31 2008, up 3% y/y, Logistics Finland reports.According to CFO, Andres Hunt, the number of passengers grew the most on Latvia-Sweden, up 39.3% y/y to 357 533 passengers, and Estonia-Finland route, up 15.5% y/y to 2.9mn passengers. Mr Hunt, says reshuffling of passenger ships to the lines, with a strong growth outlook, has proved successful. Tallink's passenger carriage on other routes: Estonia-Sweden line 772,811, Finland-Sweden 2.86mn (-11.6% y/y), and Finland-Germany route 144,968 passengers. Tallink group, with a staff of over 6,000, operating in Estonia, Finland, Sweden, Latvia, Russia and Germany, has a fleet of 19 ships. Apart from the shipping activity, the group involves also the hotel operator, Tallink Hotels.
