Lufthansa Confirms Agrees Wage Deal with Union

German airline Deutsche Lufthansa confirmed on Friday it had reached a deal with trade union Verdi paving the way for an end to a strike that has caused hundreds of flight cancellations.Under the deal, Lufthansa ground staff will get a 5.1 percent pay rise with retroactive effect from July 1 and a further 2.3 percent rise from July 2009. They will also receive a one-off payment.
The wage deal will last 21 months, Lufthansa said.
Cabin staff would see their pay rise in line with that of ground staff, Lufthansa said, adding that it had to confirm this with the Ufo union, Reuters reports.
