China Cosco Holdings says that the first batch of Airbus A320 components shipped by China Cosco has arrived at Tianjin.

The components left the Airbus plant before the end of last month and was shipped to Hamburg via river barge. Two days later, the Cosco Seattle, was loaded with the components and set sail for China.

China Cosco said in a statement that it used special trucks to transport the components to the Tianjin Airbus Assembly Plant in the Tianjin Free Trade Zone.

"China Cosco integrated logistic and shipping resources in China and overseas markets. China Cosco was involved in the preparation, coordination of resources, project bidding, establishment of platforms and implementation," the release said. "The whole process showed the synergies of the shipping value chain and business segments of China Cosco."

It maintained that the project, requiring the transportation of components for 284 aircraft by 2015, is drawing attention from around the world because of its technical standards, investment scale, market influence and development potential.

The project is the culmination of a global bid for the logistics project launched in January 2007 that was organised by the European aircraft manufacturer and the Tianjin Free Trade Zone. Twelve international logistics companies were said to have participated in the tender.
