Additional Sakhalin-1 Gas to Be Supplied to Russian Far East

18.07.2008 (16:46)

The Sakhalin-1 consortium is expected to sell Russia an additional 1.5bn-2bn cubic meters of natural gas to be supplied to the country's Far Eastern regions, RBC reports cited Deputy Prime Minister Igor Sechin as saying during today's meeting with Russian President Dmitry Medvedev.

The Deputy PM noted that an agreement in principle had been reached on the matter and that the price of the additional gas would not be lower than that of the contracted amount. Sechin reiterated that Gazprom and Rosneft had signed an agreement on gas supplies to the Russian Far East. The document provides for the resolution of the differences that existed earlier between the parties, cooperation in talks with the Sakhalin-1 consortium, as well as the joint modernization of the Far Eastern gas transportation system, Sechin said.
