01.07.2008 (16:46)

Latvia wants to turn the roads chargeable for the heavy goods vehicles from January 1.

Vehicles that gross weight exceeds 12 tons would be charged, Päevaleht Online mediates BizNews.lv.

A day spent in Latvia will cost EUR 11 (EEK 172) to an international carrier. Local companies have to pay EUR 400 a year for using the roads.

Latvia hopes to earn EEK 262.6 mln by charging the roads, Baltic Business News reports.
