Poland: PKP Intercity Bought 10 Locomotives from Siemens

According to unconfirmed press information PKP Intercity has chosen Siemens offer to supply 10 new electric locomotives.According to the press PKP IC will pay EUR 44m.
The first locomotives are to appear on the Polish tracks in two years. By the end of 2008 PKP IC will receive the a test engine.
The operator will finance the purchase from the EBI loan acquired in 2006.
Currently PKP IC rents most of its locomotivces from PKP Cargo, the national freight operator.
this is the second big tender closed by PKP IC this year. Ealier the company decided that H.Cegielski FPS will supply it with 17 new coaches for PLN 100m.
In the scope of the next several months the company will also launch a tender for 20 articulated train sets for high speed services, Railway Market-CEE Review reports.
