Podlasie (Eastern Poland) region will open a tender for providing passenger rail services for the next 2 years.Podlaskie used to avoid tenders and limit its activity to negotiating contracts with PKP, but as the prices PKP Regional Services demanded continued to grow, the region decided to find the most competitive operator, Railway Market-CEE Review reports.
The first tender was opened in March, but it was completed only partly.
PKP was the only bidder, as Arrive withdrew in the very last moment.
Arriva in consortium with PCC is carrying passengers on non-electrified lines in Kujawsko-Pomorskie region.
The tender is still open for electrified lines on main routes: Białystok – Warszawa, Białystok - Kuźnica Białostocka and Białystok - Ełk.
