Tallink Served 9.6% more Passengers in May

The number of passengers served by ferry company AS Tallink Group grew 9.6% y-o-y to 591,400 in May.

Tallink carried a total of 500,000 passengers in April.

The highest growth came from the Tallin-Helsinki route where the new vessels Star and Superstar helped to increase the number of passengers 26.8 pct, the company announced.

The company reported increase in the number of passengers on all routes, except for the Finland-Sweden route where the number of passengers was down 6.4 pct y-o-y, Baltic Business News reports.

Estonian shipping group Tallink has accepted the public conciliator's compromise proposal for, under which Tallink will raise the monthly wages of seamen and servicing personnel on its Estonian-flagged ships: 25% as of Sep.1, 2008, 9% in 2009, and 6% in 2010, accompanied with an extra pay for a long-time service.
