Trade Union to Continue Pay Talks with Tallink
12.05.2008 (14:49)
The Estonian Seamen's Independent Trade Union, EMSA, is expecting to start pay talks with the shipping group Tallink, involving a mediator, the Public Conciliator, as the earlier pay talks with Tallink in January 2008, were a failure.According to EMSA, Tallink rejected the union's pay demand, considering it too high. EMSA is focused on harmonising the pay levels on Tallink's Estonian-flagged ships. According to EMSA, the pay of crew members of the Superfast vessels and that of crews of other Tallink's ships differs in the range of 20% to 200%, depending on the job. EMSA involves over 1,200 Tallink's ship crew and servicing staff, logisticstuku.fi reports.
