The project on development of Severnaya Verf shipyard is to be completed by 2013, PortNews reports referring to RBC.The project envisages construction of a covered dry dock, metal-processing workshop, new building grounds as well as re-equipment of its machine-building facilities.
First of all, a dry dock is to be laid down in Maly Kovsh bay. The construction is to be completed in early 2010. It is to be the largest dry dock in Russia (360x55 meters).
Parallel to construction of the dry dock a reconstruction of the existing hull production facilities as well as construction of new ones is to be carried out at the yard.
Large-capacity vessels of up to 300,000 tonnes in deadweight are to be assembled in the dry dock while the vessels of up to 60,000 tonnes in deadweight are to be built at the existing building slipways with application of a floating dock.
The final phase implies the construction of facilities for production of cryogenic tanks for LNG transportation so that the yard could ensure complete-cycle building of gas-carriers.
Besides, the project envisages reconstruction of a number of existing facilities of Severnaya Verf including open slipways, pipe-production, electroplating and aggregation shops.
The construction and reconstruction activities are to be carried out without suspension of production or the plant’s capacity decrease. The shipyard will be ready for keel-laying of new large-capacity vessels in 2010. By 2013, the renewed shipbuilding complex is to reach its design capacity of 500,000 deadweight per year.
The complex will make the yard possible to build the complete range of commercial vessels including LNG carriers, icebreakers, ice-class vessels and offshore drilling platforms as well as surface war ships including aircraft carriers.
On February 15, in the course of the Fifth Krasnoyarsk Economic Forum State Corporation ‘Bank for Development and Foreign Economic Affairs (Vnesheconombank)’ and the United Industrial Corporation entered into a Memorandum on Cooperation in Construction of a modern shipbuilding facility for manufacturing high-technology types of sea civil and military ships on the basis of Severnaya Verf’s production facilities. The amount of money expected to be invested in the project is 13.72 billion rubles. The project is to be launched in 2008.
