Russian Forwarders Can't Compete
27.11.2007 (16:04)
“Today foreign companies own 20% of Russian forwarding companies. According to experts, in 2-3 years their share will amount to 60%”, president of Association of Russian Forwarders Valery Aliseychik said at the V International Conference "OAO RZD on the transport services market: Cooperation and Partnership”.He noted fact of increased financial pressure of OAO RZD to forwarders. Russian Railways gives exclusive rights to affiliates, changes existing contracts. It means rise on transportation price.
“We understand that current situation make OAO RZD to find additional sources of revenue. However we think that it’s incorrect policy. Russian forwarding companies can’t compete with foreign ones on Russian and foreign markets. Shortcomings of current transport legislation, lack of rational protectionism prevent establishment of the companies which can compete with foreign firms”, V. Aliseychik added.
